Yes, it's easy to spot someone with little self confidence.
Best advice I ever received...if you "pretend" long enough, it will eventually seem normal. Well, that's the gist of it. Worked for me.
I agree with Syd that it's easy to see when someone has little self confidence.
I think consistent praise and encouragement, combined with some form of tangible positive reinforcement, can help a kid be more confident.
